This channel is factually suspect. Still a lot of truth here, but generally speaking you should take it with a grain of salt and then some.

Example - if two satellites hit each other just right...then the net effect of their velocity slows the majority of their debris to non dangerous speeds or vectors the debris into the atmosphere or into higher orbits...

This is why the Americans need to create a Space Force.  We need to bring the war to space first.

Capture and redirect is a good strategy for the big pieces, but turning kinetic energy into heat energy via collisions will definitely help the situation

You also have to remember that space is big. A single orbit is 26000+ miles (in circumference) and thousands of satellites seems likes lots until you remember that each orbital shell is larger than the surface of the Earth.

Also, most satellites orbit in nearly the same direction so closing speeds are much slower than orbital speed.

The video is describing the Kessler Syndrome, which is a concern but not a huge or immediate problem. We shouldn’t compl etely ignore the consequences of leaving junk in space, but we’re taking steps and precautions early because of the catastrophic consequences if we pollute near earth space as much as we’ve polluted Earth.
